Dexia puts a great deal into protecting local patrimony. Each year it launches competitions for the restoration of buildings. It also establishes art collections which can be viewed in the exhibitions it supports or the books it publishes.

Dexia takes art and culture to its heart

Dexia Bank Belgium has taken art and culture to its heart since 1860. Alongside the acquisition, restoration and conservation of historically important buildings like the Osterrieth mansion in Antwerp (18th century) and the Bocholtz mansion in Liège, Dexia Bank is also committed to commissioning and acquiring Belgian art with aim of supporting those artists. These works are on permanent exhibition in Dexia offices. Loans to galleries for temporary or sometimes permanent exhibitions also enable a broader public to admire them. The Bank has a library open to the general public containing an impressive collection of documents on the history of Belgian towns and municipalities.

Art and culture, values to be protected by Dexia in Luxembourg

Today Dexia Banque Internationale à Luxembourg is one of the main partners in artistic and cultural circles in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Its commitment is reflected by the acquisition or commissioning of works of art, thus supporting artists in the country. Located in the centre of the city, Dexia BIL has chosen to exhibit these works in its offices and open them to the public, not just to clients. The Bank also has a library offering more than 4,000 books to its staff, including some on the historic and cultural heritage of the country.

Dexia, major private sponsor of the Avignon Festival

Italian art exposed in Luxembourg

The National Museum of History and Art in Luxembourg is hosting an exhibition devoted to Italian painting of the seventeenth century, including two paintings from the collection of Dexia Crediop. "Between the Sacred and the Profane. Masterpieces of the seventeenth in the collections of Italian banks." Illustrating the two main currents of Emilian naturalism and Caravaggian realism, the exhibition presents paintings by Francesco Albani, Ludovico Carracci, Bernardo Cavallino, Bartolomeo Cavarozzi, Luca Giordano, Carlo Maratta, Guido Reni, and Alessandro Tiarini. Organized by the Embassy of Italy, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura of Luxembourg, the National Museum of History and Art and the ABI (Associazione Bancaria Italiana), the exhibition offers a wealth of emotions with sixty works of art pertaining to history painting focusing on the human figure. On this occasion, Dexia Crediop lent two works from its collection, Pier Francesco Mola’s ‘Narciso alla fonte’ and Bartolomeo Cavarozzi’s ‘Sacra Famiglia.’
