In a few years time this event has become very well known: together with Dexia Classics, the competition for young musicians, this illustrates Dexia’s social implication and active cultural policy.
Dexia Art – which started off as Axion Art – is now in its ninth year of existence. Since 1998 the bank offers young artists of the Part-Time Art Education the opportunity to present their work to the public outside the school. In 2005 the formula was slightly changed: Dexia Art became a competition, after the example of the Dexia Classics music competition. This involves a jury of specialists making a selection from the wide supply of entries coming from the various academies. Using the work of the nominees an exhibition is organized which is open for visitors for a few weeks. The laureates receive a prize which should help them build a career.
Dexia Art 2009, from Monday 11 May until Friday 26 June 2009 in the entrance hall of the Pacheco building, Pachecolaan 44, 1000 Brussels. Opening hours: Monday until Friday from 9 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. The entrance is free.
